Ganesh Chaturthi Ganesh Chaturthi(Vinayak Chavithi) us the festival dedicated to Lord Ganesha. In 2011 Ganesh Chaturthi date is 1 September 2011. It is celebrated or Bhadrapada month(July - August). Lord ganesha is also called as Vinayaka, Ganapati, Vignaharti and Gajanana. Here you can know Ganesh Chaturthi Puja Muhurat - when to perform Ganesh puja on Ganesh Chaturthi. Ganesh Chaturthi festival is celebrated for more than 9 days, starting from Ganesh Chaturthi, during the month Bhaadrapada, which is called Ganesh Navaratri. After Ganesh Navaratri, worshipping Lord Ganesh for 9 days or more than 9 days in Ganesh Mandap, Ganesha idol is immersed in water bodies. This ritual is called as Ganesh Nimajjan or Ganapati Visarjan.

Ganesh Chaturthi Festival is widely celebrated in Maharashtra, Gujrat, GOa, Andhra Prades, Karnataka and Tamilnadu.
